A sterling silver tobacco pot with integrated match vesta in the lid, and strike plate along the front edge. This very beautifully made pot is very tactile in the hand and great to keep smoking paraphernalia all in one place. The lid to the pot lifts up to reveal the match safe, or vesta, contained in the lid itself. The lid has a firm seal once closed, which will prevent the contents from drying out too quickly. There is a striking plate along the front of the pot that resembles an angry mouth! In order to use this to light the match, non-safety matches must be used. The match vesta can also be used to keep folded rolling papers, if so desired.
The piece was made in Birmingham, England in 1912. It was made by Henry Williamson Limited. The Williamson silversmith's were a well known company making a large variety of silver accessories and home goods. The piece is perfect for customization. If this is so desired, please enquire for options.
